Disaster Recovery for Small & Medium Businesses is about the People
Interesting survey by the Symantec folks finds that:
“50% of SMBs have no disaster recovery plan in place, even though 65% of them operate in areas that are vulnerable to natural disasters.”
And:
“It’s not so much an issue with resources, but rather that many (41%) just didn’t realize it would be necessary and more than half don’t believe that computers and IT are critical to their business.”
The last part of that sentence is particularly poignant. The smaller the company, the more it depends on the knowledge inside a worker’s head. So in some sense, they are right that IT infra isn’t the core concern - losing people is.
Where’s the service they can leverage to find their people and help them if needed?
Where’s the service that backup just critical snippets of data to ensure some semblance of continuity even if the cloud collapses and the network connection fails?
Where is the service that keeps everyone informed about next steps and gets the business rolling again after an emergency?
It’s here. It’s called CiviGuard.
